Lafayette, La
. – The Acadiana Cane Cutters (6-3) and the Brazos Valley Bombers (5-4) started a 5-game stretch on June 5th which started on the road at Travis Field then returned home to Fabacher for two.  The series was supposed to finish in Brazos for the final two, but mother nature had other plans. After both teams took turns winning in the first four games so the series will have to remain split 2-2 as tonight’s rubber match was cancelled due to inclement weather.

On Friday the Bombers jumped in front early scoring 2 runs in the first two innings taking a 4-0 lead. Acadiana was able to blank the Bombers in the 3rd and 4th innings keeping the game within arm’s reach. That was until the 5th when the Bombers finished up their scoring for the night by putting up a 6 spot and blowing the game wide open. The deficit was too much for the Cutters to recover from and were only able to muster one run off a single, two hit batters, and a walk in the top of the 6th concluding the scoring for the night and losing 10-1.

Acadiana used six pitchers which was highlighted by a short but solid outing by Downsville, LA native Brandon Carter. Carter struck out three along with not allowing a hit, walk, or run. Shortstop Sam Stephenson led the offence having a multi-hit game and scoring the Cutters lone run.

The Cane Cutters will return home and will face-off against the Victoria Generals on Sunday June 11th for our annual

Bark in the Park Night powered by Raising Canes and Carson Animal Hospital. Both teams will play again on the 12th before the Cutters hit the road again for 2 before the return home on July 16th for Military Appreciation night sponsored by the friends of Don Landry.
