Cane Cutters Come Up Short To River Monsters In Offensive Battle07/08/2023 11:09 PM - Lafayette, La.- The Acadiana Cane Cutters suffered a tough 10-8 loss against the Seguin River Monsters on Saturday. The Cane Cutters struggled defensively early on, giving Seguin a huge 8 run 2nd inning. Preston Freeman, an incoming sophomore for the UTSA Roadrunners, picked up 3 hits for the River Monsters along with 1 RBI and a run scored of his own. After finding their rhythm, the Cane Cutters were able to rally back throughout the game including a clutch 5 run 4th inning. The Cane Cutters 4th inning rally was powered by hits from Garett Brooks, also an incoming sophomore for the UTSA Roadrunners, and Grant Comeaux, an incoming sophomore for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. After Saturday night’s tough loss to the River Monsters, the Cane Cutters moved to 11-18 on the season. The Cane Cutters are currently holding onto the 4th spot in the Texas Collegiate League, with hopes of clinching a playoff berth. The Cane Cutters will be back in action on Monday, July 10th with first pitch at 7 pm.
