Trent Hillen named TCL pitcher of the week06/20/2023 12:16 PM - Trent Hillen, a redshirt freshman at Nicholls State, was named the Texas Collegiate League pitcher of the week for the week of June 5th to June 11th. Hillen has appeared in four games for the Cane Cutters this season with one start. In 13.2 innings of pitching, he sports a 1-0 record with nine strikeouts and only six runs allowed.
“Being named pitcher of the week in the Texas Collegiate League feels pretty awesome. Not everyone can say they have won it. I came in thinking I was going to throw too much for the team and thinking I wasn’t going to really make an impact but my last three outings have been really good. I have been able to develop a lot better already than I expected. The coaching is a big part. The coaches gave me the opportunities to pitch and I took advantage. Playing for this team is like playing for a Major League team. You get treated like a big league player. After having Tommy John Surgery at the end of my senior year of high school, all I did was rehab and my sophomore year in college I only made three appearances. Pitching this much already has helped me develop my game,” said Trent Hillen.
