Darien Dukes

Head Coach

Darien Dukes is in his fourth year with the Acadiana Cane Cutters and third year in the head coaching role.

A native of Shreveport, LA, Dukes has over 25 years of experience coaching the sport of baseball at multiple levels all across Louisiana. Dukes made his debut at Fabacher Field in 2020 as the pitching coach under former manager Ricky VanAsselberg. In 2021, he moved into the head coaching role and went on to lead the Cane Cutters to their first TCL Championship in franchise history in 2022.

In his time in the professional sphere, Dukes was an assistant coach for the Shreveport-Bossier Captains (American Association) from 2008-2011. He helped lead the team to divisional and national championships in 2010. As a player himself, Dukes pitched for Trinity Heights Christian Academy (1984-1987) before going on to the University of Arkansas-Monticello (1988) and later Baptist Christian College (1989-1993). He won two championships with BCC in 1992 and 1993. After spending two years as a Graduate Assistant with the baseball program, Dukes began his coaching career in 1996 at the high school level.

 Darien Dukes currently resides in Ida, LA with his wife Dr. Kristi Dukes and his two children, Gavin and Breanne. He teaches history at Southwood High School.
