Victoria Generals Run Away with Early Lead in Victory

Victoria, TX (June 28th, 2019). Cane Cutters fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-7 loss to Victoria Generals on Friday. Victoria took the lead on a homer in the first inning. 

 

Despite the loss, the Cane Cutters did collect six hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Victoria Generals had 13 hits on the way to victory. 

 

Cane Cutters tallied four runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught for the Cane Cutters was led by Tremaine Spears (UL-Lafayette), Fisher Norris (Southern Miss), and Bryson Broussard (LSU-A), all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. 

 

Alex Hannie (UL-Lafayette), Spears, Champ Artigues (Southeastern Louisiana), Norris, Ryan Carr (Notre Dame), and Tyler Thibodeaux (Northwestern State) each collected one hit to lead the Cane Cutters. Cane Cutter did not commit a single error in the field. Thibodeaux had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team. 

 

Joey Akers (Northeast Texas CC) took the loss for the Cane Cutter. He went two innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out one.
