Opening day for The Cane Cutters is rapidly approaching, and we are more than ready to watch our new players in action this summer. We are thrilled to announce the addition of two new players from both Liberty University and East Central University. From Liberty University, we are adding Jared Free and from ESU, we will have Grant Harmon.

Originally from Frisco, Texas, Jared Free joins The Cane Cutters from Liberty University. Free is a freshman outfielder at 6’0 and 180 pounds. He graduated high school from Prestonwood Christian Academy where he played both baseball and football. He was a member of the North Texas Longhorns travel team and a member of the 2016 TAPPS 5A State Champions. He was named team MVP and received the career achievement award as a senior. Free was also an All-State first team member as a senior and a two-time all-district team member.

Grant Harmon joins the team from East Central University. Originally from Lone Grove, Oklahoma, Harmon is a freshman right-handed pitcher standing at 6’0 and weighing 200 pounds. Before joining the team at ECU, Harmon played baseball for four seasons at Lone Grove High School where he helped his team to two district championships and two regional finals appearances. He was named Lake County Conference Pitcher of the Year as both a freshman and a junior. Harmon was also named Lake County Conference MVP during his sophomore and senior seasons. As a senior in high school, his batting average was .483 with 42 hits, 34 runs, and 28 RBI. Harmon also went 27 of 27 in stolen base attempts. During his time at ECU, he has pitched a total of 16 innings with 12 strikeouts.

The Cane Cutters are excited to have these two players join our team as we know they will be an asset to us! We invite you all to come and watch them in action on our opening day in just a few short weeks. The game will be on May 31, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. against the Brazos Valley Bombers. We are looking forward to seeing all our loyal fans there!
