On Saturday night, the Acadiana Cane Cutters defeated the Gumbeaux Gators on the road in Lake Charles, 6-1.
Peyton Woods scored the first run of the night after hitting a triple and reaching third base in the fourth inning.
During the top of the fifth, after the bases were loaded for Acadiana, the Gators pitcher made an error and led Cody Breaux to score, increasing their lead over Lake Charles 2-0.
To extend the lead, John Maldonado Jr. sent a double towards centerfield and claimed an RBI, while shortly after Cody Breaux also hit a double to send him home in the sixth.
The Cutters scored their last run from Christian Hallmark after he hit a single towards right field to bring in an RBI of his own. Then, Jake Farris sent a double towards right field for Hallmark to score.
Late in the ninth, the Cane Cutters kept the Gumbeaux Gators to only one run and finished the game ahead 6-1.
Jacob Baker had a terrific night on the mound after he kept the Gators scoreless for seven innings and held them to three hits. Baker finished the game with three strikeouts alongside Hayden Toal, who closed the game with three more strikeouts.
