Cane Cutters Announce Addition of Assistant Coach Drew Price
Price to join Cane Cutters’ coaching staff for 2027 season
Lafayette, La. – The Acadiana Cane Cutters have announced the hiring of Drew Price as the Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2027 season. His balance of summer baseball experience, as well as pitching and assistant coaching experience with LSU Alexandria, will be a great asset for the Cane Cutters in 2027.
“I want to first thank Josh Mancuso for the tremendous job he did this past summer with our pitching staff. It was tough to lose him, but we wish him and his soon to be wife Katie nothing but the best,” said Manager Darien Dukes. “I’m excited to welcome Drew to the Cane Cutters staff, and look forward to the upcoming season and building a championship caliber team.”
A Storm Lake, Iowa native, Price was a Perfect Game All American, two-time All Conference selection, four year Varsity starter, All District & All Region selection. A two-way athlete (LHP & outfielder), Price’s collegiate playing career included stops at Upper Iowa University, Highland Community College (KS), and LSU Alexandria. He also played summer ball in the Northwoods League (Mankato Moondogs) and the Prospect League (Alton River Dragons). Price joined the staff at LSU Alexandria in 2025, working with the Generals pitchers.
“I’m very excited to join the Cane Cutters staff,” said Price. “Joining a well established organization like the Cane Cutters is a great honor and I’m looking forward to giving the players my all every time I show up to the ballpark this summer.”
“Drew is a great young assistant coach that works day in and day out to make everyone around him better. His passion is unmatched and we are extremely excited for him to be able to take this role on,” said LSU-Alexandria Generals Head Coach Kody Gautreaux. “Drew has been through anything and everything in his journey in the game of baseball, and he uses his experiences to help every player on our team. We know he will do the same over the summer, and the Cane Cutters will be a fun team to watch. We are excited for Drew to have this opportunity in his young career.”
“We’ve heard great things about Drew from former Cane Cutter coach and LSUA Head Coach Kody Gautreaux, and we look forward to welcoming Drew to the team,” said Richard Chalmers, Owner of the Cane Cutters.
