The Acadiana Cane Cutters opened the second half of the Texas Collegiate League season on the road Tuesday night, falling 11-4 to the Baton Rouge Rougarou at Pete Goldsby Field.

Baton Rouge jumped out early, plating four runs in the first inning and adding another in the second to take control. The Rougarou broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning, building an 11-0 lead before Acadiana began to battle back late.

The Cane Cutters showed fight in the second half of the game, scoring two runs in the sixth and two more in the eighth. Braylin Harris led the Acadiana offense, reaching base four times with two hits, two walks, and two runs scored. Grant Haas added an RBI base hit and scored a run, while Isaiah Castaneda drove in another run for the Cane Cutters.

Acadiana also worked eight walks as a team, but Baton Rouge’s pitching staff was able to limit the damage, holding the Cane Cutters to four hits on the night.

Out of the bullpen, Josh Jones gave Acadiana a strong finish, tossing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit while striking out two. Despite the late push, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

Baton Rouge was led by Jacob Keys, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Ty Simonelli added a home run and drove in a run for the Rougarou.

With the loss, the Cane Cutters move to 13-11 overall as they begin the second half of the season.
