Cane Cutters win in a Pitchers’ Duel vs the Rougarou in Game 3

Table of Content

Tonight’s matchup was a pitcher’s duel, and the Acadiana Cane Cutters came out on top, grinding out a 2-1 win over the Baton Rouge Rougarou to guarantee at least a split in this four-game series.

Hunter Gambel was sensational on the mound for the Cutters, tossing six dominant innings while allowing just one earned run on one hit and no walks. The bullpen took over from there and slammed the door — Justin Mirelas worked two clean innings, and Kade Linn came on for the save with a hitless ninth.

Acadiana struck early, just as they did in Wednesday’s win, plating two runs in the first inning off a clutch two-RBI single by Castaneda. That would prove to be all the offense they’d need.

With the win, the Cutters improve to 15-17 overall and a strong 12-6 at home. The Rougarou fall to 25-7, and for the first time since early in the season, they’ve dropped back-to-back road games — the first such skid since Games 4 and 5.

Game 4 and the series finale shift back to Baton Rouge tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM on TCL TV.
