Two Homeruns Hit But Not Enough

06/10/2019 10:24 PM -

Youngsville, LA (June 10, 2019). The Victoria Generals headed to town and took game one of the two game series by a score of 7-3.

The Cane Cutters start off the game hot in the bottom of the first inning. Cameron Dobbs (University of Texas- Arlington) got on base on a fielder’s choice which brought up Tremaine Spears (University of Louisiana- Lafayette). Spears saw a first pitch ball and then took the next pitch yard to left field. It was a homerun right off the bat. But he wasn’t the only one feeling the power tonight. Zach Mazur (Notre Dame) drilled one over the left center fence in the bottom of the fifth inning. It was Mazur’s first homerun of the summer. The Cane Cutters were walked five times and hit by a pitch one time. Unfortunately, the Cutters couldn’t tie runs together and ultimately fell to the Victoria General 7-3.

Bailey Hargrave (Delta State) started on the mound for the Cane Cutters and pitched three and two-thirds innings. He had one strikeout and four hits in his innings of play. Nick Hill (Nicholas St.) came in for relief and pitched four innings. He struck out one. Noah Hughes (Southeastern Louisiana) came in during the seventh inning to relieve Hill. Hughes allowed two hits in two and one-third innings.
