Cutters Win in Extra's

07/31/2015 8:35 AM -

The Cane Cutters walk off in 10 innings with a 5-4 victory.  The Cane Cutters move to 14-9 as the Marshalls lose to go to 4-19.

The Cane Cutters took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Daniel Keating (Southern Miss) led things off with a double as he would go 1-2 with a run scored. Kyle Knauth (Nicholls State) would then hit a sacrifice fly to score Keating. Knauth was 0-3 with an RBI.

The Marshalls would score 3 runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead.

However the Cane Cutters would battle back and score 3 runs themselves to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Zak Kutsulis (Notre Dame) would reach base safely as well as Chance Vincent (University of Alabama) who would extend his hit streak to 10 games. So with runners on first and second up next was Adam Yacek (Miami of Ohio) who singled to score Kutsulis. 2 more runs would score off of the bats of Connor Short (University of Alabama) and Jalen Haskins (Pearl River Community College).

The game would be tied up and go into extra innings after closer Clay Brast lost the save opportunity.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 10th and down to the last strike Jalen Haskins would hit a blooper to right field and soon make his way to third base. Instead of stopping there the throw was out of play and Haskins was able to come across to score the final run to end the game.
