Cane Cutters Fall to Bombers

Your Cane Cutters lose tonight 13-1.

 

They lost the second game of the two game road series to the Brazos Valley Bombers It moves your Cane Cutters record to 4-8. The Bombers move to 10-2.

 

Devontae Wilson (Southeastern Louisiana) got his first start for the Cane Cutters. He pitched 2.2 innings, allowing 9 hits, 8 runs, and striking out 2. He would soon be pulled for he gave up 3 runs in the first innings and 5 runs in the very next inning to push the score to 8-1.

 

His replacement, Dane Lovejay (Navarro College), would come in and struggle to maintain his controls as he would walk 5 in 2.2 innings worked while allowing 2 more runs to come across for the Bombers

 

The starting pitcher for the Bombers was Darick Hall. Hall pitched 4.2 innings, allowing 6 hits with 2 strikeouts. He was pulled before 5 innings of work for the Cane Cutters did get to him early with 6 hits through 4 innings.

 

For the Bombers they put up multiple runs in consecutive innings. Starting in the second they scored runs off of a single to right field by Matt Valdez, a Jimmy Norris single that drove in Valdez, and a Jacobs Chappell single to make it 3-0.

 

The Bombers continued with 5 more runs in the next inning.

 

The third reliever of the night for the Cane Cutters was Joey Cresta (Notre Dame). Cresta came in and the Bombers continued to score more runs. Cresta pitched 3.0 innings, striking out 5 while giving up 2 runs.

 

Your Cane Cutters have some great events soon at Fabacher Field. July 18th is Diamonds on the Diamond. The first 30 paid women will be entered to win a blue topaz stone necklace, set in white gold. July 19th is Dog Days of Summer. It is a great opportunity to bring your social, leashed dog to the park for a pooch pass of $3.00.
