6 CANE CUTTERS MAKE ALL-STAR TEAM

 The Acadiana Cane Cutters will send 3 position players and 3 pitchers to represent them in the TCL All-Star that will be held in College Station, Texas at Cellucor Field on July 8th.

 

Returning Cane Cutter Connor Barron (Southern Miss) has been a constant at the top of the Cane Cutters lineup and has had several huge games this season. The centerfielder is currently hitting .333 (33-99) with a home run, 8 RBIs, 25 runs, and 18 stolen bases.

 

The team’s leading run producer for most of the season has been first baseman Taylor Walker (Jackson State CC). He is hitting .311 (33-106) along with 2 home runs, 20 RBIs, 17 runs, and 4 stolen bases. He has provided a solid glove on the right side of the infield as well committing just 2 errors thus far.

 

Catcher Hunter Wood (Western Kentucky) has come on strong of late and has shown he is one of the best hitters in the Acadiana lineup. He sits at .295 (26-88) with 11 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases.

 

2-time PowerAde Pitcher of the Week Alec Sanchez (Texas State) has been the most reliable late-inning guy out of the pen for the Cane Cutters. He has appeared in 7 games and thrown 10 innings without giving up a run. He also has 2 wins, 2 saves, and 9 strikeouts to his credit.

 

Scott Ashford (Ole Miss) has been a veteran leader and solid closer during the time he has been with the team. He has appeared in 9 games and thrown 9.2 innings as a reliever. Ashford has given up just 2 earned runs (1.86 ERA) while racking up 5 saves and 9 strikeouts.

 

Long-reliever Ryan May (LSU) has been huge asset for Head Coach Lonny Landry to call on out of the bullpen. He has appeared in 8 games and thrown 21.1 innings while giving up just 4 earned runs (1.68 ERA). He has also accumulated 13 strikeouts.

The Cane Cutters will continue on Saturday to play a two game road series against the Woodlands Strykers. They will then be on a three-day break for the All-Star Game, which will be held in College Station, Texas and hosted by the Brazos Valley Bombers.
