By: Cane Cutters Baseball – Bill Levy GM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – FEBRUARY 20, 2014

After going 32-28 last season, Cane Cutters coach Lonny Landry has gone back to a longtime friend of the organization in his first two signing announcements of the 2014 season: infielder/pitcher Ben Chauvin and pitcher Hayden Marze, both freshmen at LSU Eunice.

“It only seems appropriate that these two are our first announcements,”
Cane Cutters GM Bill Levy has said. “We have had a great relationship with the Bengals the first three years of our club. Coach (Jeff) Willis has done a great job over there, and their success speaks for itself. We are so fortunate to once again get some of their players in 2014.”

Infielder/pitcher Chauvin is hitting .313 for the 8-1 Bengals with 4 RBI. He is from Prairieville, LA and played at Family Christian Academy.

Marze, a right handed pitcher from Sunset, LA, has appeared in one game, striking out all three batters he faced in a February 2nd game against St. Charles. He attended Westminster Christian Academy.

The Cane Cutters will open their fourth season on Thursday, May 29th when they host the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field in what will be the first part of an “Opening Weekend.” The Cane Cutters are part of the six-team Texas Collegiate League that features some of the Nation’s top college prospects.
