Youngsville, LA (July 7, 2019). Cane Cutters defeated Brazos Valley Bombers 7-0 as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Matthew Delcambre (UNO) induced a groundout from Kyle Bergeron to finish off the game.
Trace Henry (ULM) collected five hits in five at bats to help lead the Cane Cutters to victory. Henry singled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fifth, singled in the sixth, and singled in the eighth.
Cane Cutters got on the board in the second inning when an error scored one run for the Cane Cutters.
Cane Cutters had twelve hits in the game. Henry and Ryan Carr (Notre Dame) all managed multiple hits for the Cutters. Henry led the Cane Cutters with five hits in five at bats. Cane Cutters were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Reed Spenrath (Texas A&M) had the most chances in the field with eleven.
Drew Boyd (Southern Miss) pitched the Cane Cutters to victory. He surrender zero runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero. He threw 82 pitches. Delcambre and Bryson Broussard (LSU-A) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Cannon Davis took the loss for Brazos Valley. He went five and a third innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out three.
