Cane Cutters Clinch Lead in 8th Inning to Defeat Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, LA (June 16th, 2019). Cane Cutters snagged a late lead and defeated Baton Rouge 3-2 on Sunday. The game was tied at two with Cane Cutters batting in the top of the eighth when Reed Spenrath (Texas A&M) singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

 

Cane Cutters evened things up at two in the top of the seventh inning when Hunter LeBlanc (Southern Miss.) tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

 

Bailey Hargrave (Delta State) started the game for the Cane Cutters. He went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out five. Kris Peet (Delta State) pitched the Cane Cutters to victory. He lasted two and two0thirds innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out two and walking one. Hunter Stafford (Delta State) threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

 

Trace Henry (UL-Monroe) went 2-3 at the plate to lead the Cane Cutters in hits. Cane Cutters was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Tyler Thibodeaux (Northwestern State) made the most plays with nine.

 

The Cutters will be back in action tomorrow night (6/18) at Fabacher Field. Gates will open at 4PM and first pitch is at 5PM. Tomorrow is a double-header against the Texarkana Twins.
