By: Cane Cutters Baseball

Youngsville, LA (June 4th, 2019). It was a great night here at Fabacher Field. The Cane Cutters took game one of the two game series by a score of 9-3.

The bats were on fire tonight for the Cane Cutters. Texarkana attacked right away in the first inning but it didn’t take long for the Cane Cutters to get in to the groove of things. They struck back in the bottom of the fourth and scored four runs. Texarkana answered back by scoring one in the top of the fifth but the Cane Cutters answered again by scoring three more runs making it a 7-2 game. Each team scored in the seventh inning, but the Cane Cutters came out on top adding two more runs to end the game at 9-3.

Spenrath hit the first homerun of the season after he shot a ball over the right field fence. Zavier Moore was our Powerade Player of the Game after going 2-3 with 3 RBIs.

The pitching staff came in full force tonight as well. Akers started us off and pitched a complete four innings and only allowed one hit. Olivarez came in as relief in the fifth inning and struck out three in two innings of play. Stafford relieved Olivarez and pitched two complete innings and also striking out three. Broussard closed the game for the Cane Cutters and struck out two in his one inning of play.

The Cutters will be back in action tomorrow night (6/5) at Fabacher Field. Gates will open at 6PM and first pitch is at 7PM for all homes games. To get weekly updates on the team and fun theme nights coming up, please visit our website and subscribe to our newsletter.
