Lafayette, La. – With the delayed start of the TCL season just under 2 months away, the Cane Cutters made three additional signings from Northwestern State (Natchitoches, La.) this week, the team announced today. Pitchers Levi David, Nik Millsap and catcher Marshall Skinner will make their Cane Cutter debuts in 2020, joining fellow NSU Demon, and 2019 TCL All Star, Tyler Thibodeaux who the team announced in early April would be returning to the Cane Cutters this season.

Right-handed pitcher Levi David, a sophomore from Waxahachie, Tex., will join the Cane Cutters pitching staff for the upcoming season. David appeared in five games for the Demons during the 2020 season and posted a 2-0 record while recording a 2.57 ERA over 7 innings pitched. He also notched 10 strikeouts during those five games including a season high five strikeout game against UL Lafayette.

Right-handed pitcher Nik Millsap, a redshirt freshman from Southlake, Tex., will also join the Cane Cutters staff for the 2020 season. Millsap appeared in three games for Northwestern St. during the shortened season and recorded a 3.86 ERA while striking out 7 over 7 innings pitched. He helped lead Southlake Carrol High School (Southlake, Tex.) to the 6A state championship as a senior and was named to the state all-tournament team. Millsap also earned second-team all-district first baseman honors as a senior while batting .333 during the season and .462 in the playoffs as the Dragons went 36-6.

Catcher Marshall Skinner, a senior from Cypress, Tex., will split time behind the plate with fellow NSU Demon Tyler Thibodeaux for the Cane Cutters this season. Skinner started all 16 games as NSU's primary catcher while also drawing starts at designated hitter and first base. He was tied for the team lead with 20 hits and ranked second on the team in batting average (.333) and third in RBIs (13). Skinner also hit safely in 14 of 16 games, including nine straight to open the season, pushing his career-best run to 14 games dating back to 2019.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters will open the 2020 season at home on Monday, July 6 against the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field. All home games will begin at 7:00pm and will be broadcast live on ESPN 1420 AM.
