Tough Top of 8th inning hurts the Cane Cutters

 Lafayette, La. – The Acadiana Cane Cutters lose at home against the Baton Rouge Rougarou 15-14 to start their short 2-game series. The Cutters led for almost the entire game, but they could not overcome a rough 8th inning and lose at home.

The Cane Cutter’s had no problems putting runs on the board as they score 12 runs on 8 hits in the ballgame. Christian Garcia, (Hill College) led the way for the Cutters in the game with 3 hits including two doubles. He also had team high in RBIs with 4 in the ballgame. Justin Williams, (Louisiana Tech) also had a great night in the batter’s box as he had 2 hits including one double. Williams also tied for the team high in RBIs with 4 in the game as well. Michael Latulas, (Southern) also contributed on the night with 2 hits including a double in the 2nd inning.

Cane Cutters’ pitchers were having a decent performance on the night before the tough 8th inning happened. They allowed a combined 15 runs on 11 hits for the game.  Justin Williams, (Louisiana Tech) also had a solid outing on the mound as he led the team with 4 strikeouts while not giving up a hit in 2.0 innings pitched. Nicholas Judice, (University of Louisiana at Monroe) came into the game in relief in the 4th inning and struck out 2 batters while not giving up a hit in 2.0 innings pitched.

The Cane Cutters will face off against the Baton Rouge Rougarou again tomorrow on July 31st! First pitch is set for 7pm at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge, La. You can follow along with the game on Pointstreak or watch a live stream from TCL TV.
