An 8-2 win on Sunday night completed a sweep of the three game series between Acadiana and the Brazos Valley Bombers in the last regular season matchup between the two teams.
With the regular season winding down, Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of first-place Brazos Valley moved the Cane Cutters within five games of the top spot in the TCL.
An 18-6 victory over the Victoria Generals on Wednesday night improved Acadiana’s season record to 23-20, including a 10-7 mark since the All-Star Break.
Despite a 12-6 loss to the Victoria Generals that ended a nine game winning streak, the Cane Cutters are still in first place in the TCL second half standings.
Saturday night’s 10-5 win over the Victoria Generals pushes Acadiana’s win streak to 9 games overall, including eight in a row since the All-Star Break.
The Cane Cutters are now enjoying their longest winning streak of the season (8 games) after a sweep of Friday’s doubleheader versus Texarkana. Acadiana took the first 7-inning contest by a score of 2-0 before coming back less than an hour later to claim another 7-inning victory, this time by a score of 7-4.
Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) and Kelsey Richard (Northwestern State) combined for 4 hits, 4 runs scored and 4 runs batted in to lead Acadiana to a 10-1 win on Wednesday night.
Acadiana started off the second half of the TCL season with an 8-2 victory over the Brazos Valley Bombers on Sunday night in their first game in over a week.
