Cane Cutters' Media Day 2013

On Wednesday, May 8 the Acadiana Cane Cutters held their annual Media Day at the organization’s 2013 Host Hotel – the Hampton Inn & Suites Lafayette. 
 
Media Day was an opportunity for the Cane Cutters’ Front Office to discuss their third season of Texas Collegiate League baseball and take questions from local media.

Third-year Head Coach and area native Lonny Landry introduced the 2013 Opening Day roster, which will feature current college baseball players joining the Cane Cutters from 16 nationwide schools. Acadiana’s roster will be comprised of talent from the University of Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Texas A&M, Old Dominion, Cal State Bakersfield, Nicholls State, LSU-Eunice, Southeastern, and the University of Louisiana Lafayette among others. Each Texas Collegiate League player must currently be on his respective school’s roster for the 2013 spring semester and must be eligible to return to the team for spring 2014. Texas Collegiate League Baseball, like other summer leagues, primarily exists to give young, developing athletes a chance to complete against like high-level talent to pursue their goal of playing Major League Baseball.

General Manager Jacob R. Andrews also took the podium to announce the exciting new changes the Cane Cutters’ will bring to Fabacher Field in 2013. This summer will present a bevvy of creative daily promotions mixed with some must-see live entertainment. From the Sonic Opening Night airdrop, to the C & G Boats Shirt Off the Back and Fan Appreciation Night, 2013 is primed to be the most adventurous Lafayette has seen to date. In addition to the new programs, fans can anticipate quality baseball, live music, terrific giveaways, interactive promotions, and more this season. Said Andrews, “We are committed to making Cane Cutters’ Baseball summer’s best venue for quality family entertainment. Our staff is working tirelessly to create a respected, top-notch program for athletes and fans alike, both on the field and in the community.”

The Cane Cutters will open the 2013 Texas Collegiate League season by welcoming the seven-year TCL member Brazos Valley Bombers on Thursday, May 30 at Fabacher Field.
