Players from both Notre Dame and Texas A&M to Join 2019 Team

With the upcoming season rapidly approaching, the Cane Cutters have been diligently working to create an outstanding line-up. We are excited to announce that we will have two players from Notre Dame and one player from Texas A&M joining our team. From Notre Dame, we have Zach Mazur and Ryan Carr. Joining the team from Texas A&M will be Reed Spenrath.

Catcher Zach Mazur joins the team as a freshman from Notre Dame. Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, Mazur graduated from Oxbridge Academy in May of 2018 and played club baseball with the FTB Rockets. As a senior in high school, he batted .390 with six extra-base hits and 17 RBI. During the 2019 season with Notre Dame, Mazur batted .250 in the six games he appeared in.

Outfielder Ryan Carr joins the Cane Cutters this year from Notre Dame. Originally from Saddle River, New Jersey, Carr played club baseball with Time to Sign Sports and Wladyka Baseball, batting .459 before his senior year. During his senior year in high school, Carr batted .395 with a .500 on-base percentage, nine stolen bases, and 14 RBI. During the 2019 season, Carr played in 5 games and started in one for Notre Dame. His batting average was .250. Carr was a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, English Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society.

Infielder and right-handed pitcher Reed Spenrath joins the team as a freshman from Texas A&M. During his high school career, Spenrath received many awards and recognition, such as Rawlings/Perfect Game All-American Honorable Mention and Rawlings/Perfect Game Texas All-Region Honorable Mention. He was also named Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State Honorable Mention. In his junior year of high school, he batted .385 with 17 extra-base hits and 31 RBI. During his sophomore year, he batted .380 with 36 runs, seven doubles, two triples, 41 RBI and six homeruns. Along with playing baseball in high school, Spenrath also started for his school’s basketball team, played tight end on the football team, and competed in the high jump and triple jump on the track and field team.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters are extremely excited about the addition of the accomplished players on our 2019 team. We invite you to come and watch their first home game during our season opener on May 31, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. against the Brazos Valley Bombers.
