YOUNGSVILLE, La. (July 31, 2018)- After getting rained out on Monday afternoon, the Acadiana Cane Cutters returned to Fabacher Field to face the Brazos Valley Bombers in a doubleheader on Tuesday.

They took game one by a score of 1-0 but dropped game two 8-7.

Matthew Beck (LSU) and Kyle Bayles (Mississippi State) combined in game one to pitch a no-hitter. Beck threw 4.2 innings and struck out eight of the 16 batters he faced. Bayles finished off the last 2.1 innings with three strikeouts.

The Cutters fell behind early in game two. Cole Secrest (Lamar University) put the Cutters on the board in the fourth inning after being hit by a pitch. Preston Faulkner (SE Louisiana) singled and the Bombers walked the next three batters to bring in three runs. Faulkner and Mason Corbett (Texas A&M) scored two more runs in the fifth on an RBI double hit down the left field line by Nathan Gabryszwski (Lamar University). The Cutters drove in two more in the bottom of the seventh to come within a run of the Bombers but were not able to do more.

Joseph Battaglia III (BRCC) made an appearance in the sixth inning to take over for Jacob Norman (ULL) who entered the game in the second. Battaglia has thrown six scoreless innings in his last four outings of relief for the Cutters.
