Cane Cutters Sweep the Marshals

YOUNGSVILLE, La. (June 25, 2018)- After an amazing walk-off win Sunday night, the Acadiana Cane Cutters swept the home series against the Texas Marshals by a score of 6-2.

 

Cole Secrest (Lamar University) was once again named the Powerade Player of the Game after going five for five, with five singles and one RBI. Secrest started things off for the Cane Cutters in the first inning to score Cole Taylor (Texas A&M), who had tripled to begin the inning.

 

Nathan Gabryszwski (Lamar University) scored run number two on an RBI triple by Jeffery Elkins (Northwestern State) in the sixth inning. Rhett McCall (Lamar University) extended the lead in the seventh with a two-run homerun over the left field wall. The Marshals then delivered three consecutive walks for Trey Harrington (SE Louisiana) to bring in another run on a sacrifice fly to center field.

 

Evan Daigle (Northwestern State) had a great night on the mound, pitching six innings, striking out four batters, and allowing only one run. Tyler Booth (LSUE) took over in the seventh inning and struck out five of the 11 batters he faced.

 

The Cane Cutters travel to Graham Field in Plano, Texas tomorrow for a two-game road series against the Marshals.

 

The Cutters will be back at Fabacher Field again Thursday (6/28) against the Victoria Generals. It will be Dollar Beer Night! Draft beer is $1 all game long.
