Cane Cutters Drop the Series Against the Generals

06/05/2018 9:38 PM -

VICTORIA, Tx (June 6, 2018)- The night dealt another loss to the Acadiana Cane Cutters in Victoria, Tx. The Victoria Generals took the win with a score of 9-4.

The Generals catcher, Luis Olivier (Embry Riddle University), started things off with a 3-run home run in the first and an RBI single in the third. A wild pitch in the fourth allowed the Generals to add another run to their lead.

The Cutters started to heat up in the fifth inning when Brady Adkins (Louisiana College) was walked and moved to second after Rhett McCall (Lamar University) advanced to first on an error by the Generals’ second baseman. Mason Corbett (Texas A&M) then hit a single, bringing Adkins in to put the Cutters on the board. McCall scored the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Nathan Gabryszwski (Lamar University).

The Generals scored four more runs in the next three innings after the Cutters’ relief pitcher Hayden Erbe (ULL) retired the Generals in order in the bottom of the fifth.

Erbe took over for starting pitcher Joseph Battaglia III (BRCC) in the fourth. He pitched 3.1 innings, faced 16 batters, and had six strikeouts, but he was also charged with three earned runs and five walks. Jacob Norman (ULL) came in for Erbe in the seventh inning.

The Cane Cutters put two more runs up in the seventh but failed to catch up to the Generals.
