Cutters Enter Final Road Trip Hot

08/03/2017 10:50 PM -

Acadiana will visit the Brazos Valley Bombers for their last two road games after sweeping the Texas Marshals at home.

Daniel Lahare (ULL) was Player of the Game on Thursday due to a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. His hot bat led Acadiana to a 9-5 win. He started things off in the bottom of the first with an RBI single to score Gabe Montenegro (Southern Miss) and give the Cane Cutters a 1-0 lead. Texas answered with a run in the top of the second, and then the teams traded zeros until the fifth. The Cutters retook the lead on a single by Turner Francis (ULM) that scored Lahare before adding an insurance run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jesus Tovar (Northern Illinois). Two more Texas runs in the top of the sixth would tie the game for a second time. Acadiana responded immediately, scoring five times in their half of the sixth en route to an 8-3 advantage. The five run inning was highlighted by a Trey Morgan (Southeastern Louisiana) two run single that plated Lahare and Francis. Texas would scratch across a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth to get within three at 8-5, but an RBI single by Jonathan Artigues restored the four run lead and rounded out the scoring.

Dan and the rest of the Cane Cutters will travel to Bryan, Texas for their last road trip of the regular season on Friday and Saturday before returning home for their final two regular season games at Fabacher Field Sunday and Monday against the Texas Marshals. Promotions for that homestand will be Strike Out Cancer night and the accompanying jersey auction on Sunday, August 6th which will benefit St. Jude’s Cancer Center followed by Back To School Night on Monday, August 7th where admission will be free if you bring four qualifying school supplies to a supply drive.
