Cane Cutters Provide Ray of Sunlight on Rainy Day

05/30/2017 10:40 PM -

The Cane Cutters defeated the Texarkana Twins by a score of 15-7 to brighten up a rainy day in the Acadiana region on Tuesday.

Outfielder Daniel Lahare of Delgado Community College earned Player of the Game honors due to a strong night at the plate. Lahare finished 5-for-6 with 3 runs scored, a run batted in and a stolen base. After the game Daniel observed that"we had to play a lot of small ball...we have a great group of guys here, we're always picking each other up and we were able to do that tonight and get the win."

After Cutters starter Justin Demary retired the first eight batters he faced, the game turned into a slugfest. With the Cane Cutters already leading 7-0, the Twins batted around in the top of the 5th and scored six runs to bring the game back within reach at 7-6. The Cane Cutters would answer with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the frame to extend the lead back to four, and then two innings later would bat around themselves and add an additional five runs to make the score 15-7. A Cane Cutters run in the eighth would round out the scoring.
