Cane Cutters Split Opening Weekend with Bombers

05/27/2017 10:05 PM -

A day after winning their season opener, the Cane Cutters suffered their first loss of the season by a score of 3-2 at the hands of the Brazos Valley Bombers, whom they have faced in the last two TCL Championships.

Nathan Gabryszwski earned Player of the Game honors thanks to a 1-for-2 night at the plate that included an RBI triple. He also walked twice and scored a run. Gabryszwski admitted to seeing the ball well all night and credited his triple to his ability to get ahead in the count before adding that he’s excited for the season despite the loss and that the current Cane Cutters roster is a great group.

After allowing the first run of the game, the Cane Cutters took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Shortstop Justin Damary singled and subsequently scored on Gabryszwski’s triple to tie the game at one, and Gabryszwski would score later in the inning when Brandon Duhon singled. The Bombers would add a pair of runs in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead the would not surrender.

Come cheer on Nathan and the rest of Cane Cutters as they look to get back in the win column on Tuesday vs. the Texarkana Twins!
