Cane Cutters sink Strykers, 7-3

08/10/2016 10:20 PM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters beat the Woodlands Strykers, 7-3 on a wet and slippery night at Fabacher Field.

The Strykers struck first on the scoreboard in the third inning as Jonathan Ducoff knocked in a run on a infield single in the hole at short to give Woodlands a 1-0 lead.

The Cane Cutters responded in the last of the third when Peyton Lee scored on a throwing error to tie the game up at 1.

Acadiana took the lead in the fourth on another throwing error from Woodlands to take the lead 2-1. Peyton Lee followed with a fielder's choice RBI to give the Cutters a 3-1 after four innings of play.

The Cane Cutters broke the game open in the fifth inning with a couple of runs coming off a few mistakes from the Strykers and newcomers Brady Bell and Spencer Goodwin getting RBI hits to give Acadiana a 7-2 lead.

Peyton Lee, JC Keys, and Trenton Buchhorn were all on the hill for this victory.

The Cane Cutters will now have two days off before playing their first round playoff contest at Fabacher Field against the Victoria Generals this Saturday night. We will be selling half-price tickets for the contest.
