The Cane Cutters got back on the road after a 6-game home stint, and took their 4-game win streak to face the 31st ranked summer collegiate team in the country, the Victoria Generals.

 

Mike Hanchar started the game on the hill for the Cutters and went 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 2. He got some help on the mound from Whitty, Wilson, Cresta, and Brast.

 

Pedro Barrios got the scoring started when he came across in the 2nd from Travis Jones’ sacrifice fly to right field.

 

Travis Jones then homered in the 4th and ended the night 2-3 with 3 RBI’s.           

 

The Cutters picked up two runs in the 5th when Knauth crossed the plate on a groundout to short, and Keating followed with an RBI single to bring home Williams. Daniel Keating went 2-5 and drove in 3 runs on the night. Victoria took a 5-3 lead into the 9th inning but couldn’t hold it. Southern Miss’ Keating tied the ballgame with a 2 run double.

 

In the 10th, the Chandler Gilbert Community College star, James Ziegler, scored the go ahead run on the single from TCU’s Evan Williams. Clay Brast earned the save and helped Acadiana to extend its win streak to 5 games and improve to 7-3 in the last 10 games. The Cane Cutters play host to the Pump Jacks on Tuesday at 7.
