Rally Falls Short

Your Cane Cutters lost another one to drop to 4-6 on the second half of the season. Tonight they were able to muster some offense, but it was not enough as the East Texas Pumpjacks won 7-4.

 

The starting pitcher for the Cane Cutters was the Jevin Huval (University of Louisiana Lafayette). Huval pitched 4.0 innings allowing 3 hits with 1 run.

 

Your Cane Cutters got on the board first. Zac Kutsulis (Notre Dame) drew a walk as the first batter of the game. Chance Vincent (University of Alabama), 3-5 on the night with 2 runs scored, then came up and singled to move Kutsulis to 2nd base. Adam Yacek then would advance to first on an error which would score Chance Vincent to make the game 1-0.

 

The East Texas Pumpjacks would then score 1 run in the top of the fourth to tie the game. They would then go on to score another run to make the score 2-1 after 5 innings.

 

Troy Whitty (LSU) would be the first reliever out of the bullpen for the Cane Cutters. He would pitch 2.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts.

 

The winning pitcher on the evening for the Pumpjacks was Tristan Pendley. Pendley was on the mound while the offense for the Pumpjacks was able to push across 4 runs in the top of the 7th innings. Pendley pitched 7.0 innings, allowing 9 hits,3 runs, and recorded 3 strikeouts.

 

Your Cane Cutters tried to even the score and were able to get some momentum as 1 more run would come in to score in the bottom of the eigth inning to make the score 7-4.

 

The Cane Cutters will be in action here again at Fabacher Field Saturday against the Woodlands Strykers. Diamonds on the Diamond is July 18th, sponsored by Paul’s Jewelry. The first 30, paid women, 18 and up have the opportunity to win a diamond necklace with a blue topaz pendant set in white gold. 2nd and 3rd place will receive Honora Pearls.
