Cane Cutters Still Holding On

06/27/2015 7:51 AM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters were swept by the Brazos Valley Bombers to move their record to 13-10. The first place Bombers advance to 16-4.

The Cane Cutters struck first as the starting pitcher was excellent on the mound . The starter, Nick McCarty (Notre Dame),  was excellent early on as he protected a one run lead that the team built early. He would finish his evening with 6.2 innings pitched allowing 3 hits with 2 runs and 3 strikeouts. He may have been able to go longer if not for a crucial error for the Cane Cutters in centerfield that would score the first run for the Bombers in the top of the seventh inning.

The Cane Cutters got it started in the bottom of the sixth as leadoff hitter Zac Kutsulis (Notre Dame) would reach on a single and advance to second on a balk by starting pitcher Reemy Reed. Reed for the Bombers pitched 5.1 innings with 4 hits while allowing 1 run.

After Kutsulis would reach second up came third baseman Taylor Braley (Southern Miss). Braley would then also reach on a walk and the Cane Cutters would have 2 men on base. Next up was James Ziegler. Ziegler would walk to load the bases. A pitch hitter Leiff Clarkson (Western Kentucky) would then step up to the plate and lay down a suicide bunt to advance and score Kutsulis.

The Bombers would then go onto scoring 3 more runs as the Cane Cutters lost 4-1.
