Your Cane Cutters fell to 13-9 after a 12-3 loss to the first place Brazos Valley Bombers. The Bombers are now 15-4.

It was a rough night for Cane Cutter pitchers as the starter Michael Hanchar (Nicholls State) did not make it out of the first inning. He was roughed up for a total of 3 runs as he loaded the bases. He pitched .2 innings allowing one hit with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts.

The Cane Cutters stayed in it early making it out of the bases loaded jam in the first inning which resulted in 3 runs for the Bombers.
The second pitcher on the evening was Riley Cooper. After seeming to settle in Cooper struggled in the top of the third as 6 runs would come across to score in the inning. It was his final inning pitched as he went 2.1 innings with 2 walks while allowing 6 runs.
 
Now trailing 9-0 after three innings the Cane Cutters showed some resilience as they battled hard even when down.
 
In the bottom of the sixth it looked like they were able to break through a little as 3 runs would come across making the score 9-3.
 
The scoring run started in the inning for the Cane Cutters as James Ziegler (Chandler Gilbert Community College) would reach first on a walk. Next up was the shortstop Connor Short (University of Alabama) who would single to advance Ziegler to second. Kyle Knauth (Nicholls State) would then reach first on a single to load the bases. With the bases loaded up came Adam Yacek (Miami of Ohio) who would then go on to 3 RBI triple to make the score 9-3.
 
Two position player would find their way to the pitchers mound in James Ziegler and Cameron Cummings (University of South Alabama). Ziegler pitched 1 inning in which he allowed 3 runs on 3 hits with a walk, while Cummings pitched 2.0 innings with 2 hits given up.
 
Your Cane Cutters will next be in action tomorrow night at Fabachar Field to face the Brazos Valley Bombers. Games can be viewed on U-Stream by going to the Cane Cutters website www.canecuttersbaseball.com. Saturday and Sunday will both be home games for the Cane Cutters. Saturday Night is Bobblehead night and the return of the Fabulous Cajun Chicken. First 400 fans will receive a bobblehead with their paid ticket. Sunday is Dog Days of Summer. St. Martin’s Animal Shelter and Camp Bow Wow are partnered up as their will be dogs up for adoptions. Part of the proceeds from the nights game will go to St. Martins and Lafayette Animal Aid.
