Ziegler's Return Spoiled

The Cane Cutters look to win tonight’s game against the Strykers and build some momentum heading into their next series against the Brazos Valley Bombers.

Hunter Medine started the game for the Cane Cutters. The southpaw ran into trouble in the 2nd inning, giving up 3 runs, as the Strykers got on the board first. In the next inning, Medine would also give up a home run to Jerry Murillo.

The lefty’s night would be short-lived as he went 3 innings, giving up 4 runs, issuing 2 walks, while striking out 4 batters.

The starting pitcher for the Strykers, Nolan Holland, carried a 1 hitter through 4 innings. He would end up getting into trouble in the 5th inning. He allowed 4 runs, issuing 2 walks, while striking out 4 batters.

James Ziegler hit a home run to center field in the 5th inning to put the Cane Cutters on the scoreboard. This was his first game back after being hit by a pitch over the weekend.

Later in the 5th inning, Zak Kutsulis doubled in a run, cutting the deficit to 4-2.

In the 6th inning, Ziegler hit his 2nd home run of the night, picking up 2 more RBI’s to tie the game 4-4.

Kutsulis would also pick up another RBI as the Cane Cutters took a 5-4 lead.

The team from The Woodlands would strike back tying the game 5-5 in the bottom of the 6th inning.

The Strykers would score the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning on a sacrifice fly ball as they defeated the Cane Cutters 6-5.

Scott Szush took the loss for the Cane Cutters and Bryce Tomlin gets the win for the Strykers.

The Cane Cutters fall to 7-4 on the season, and will begin their 2-game series with the Bombers tomorrow, June 11th at 7:00 PM.

They will return home Saturday June 13th against the Marshals for a 7:15 start. Saturday’s game will be military appreciation night. Current or former military personnel will receive up to 5 free tickets, thanks to Franks International, Ampol and Acadiana Dodge.
