Cane Cutters Lose A Tough One

06/10/2015 6:33 AM -

The Cane Cutters look to bounce back from their loss on Sunday, as they travel to The Woodlands for the first of a two game series.

Both teams met up on June 3rd, where the Cane Cutters split the series and suffered their first loss on the season.

The Cane Cutters would send Kirk McCarty to face the Strykers, for the first time in the 2015 campaign. McCarty, the strong throwing lefty, ran into trouble early by giving up a run in the 1st. He would settle down in the later innings, giving up 8 hits, issuing 1 walk, and striking out 5, in 6.2 innings of work.

Unfortunately, the Strykers had a strong throwing lefty on the mound themselves, as Blake Glauben got the start.

Like McCarty, Glauben gave up a run in the first, as Cameron Cummings came into score off the bat of Zak Kutsulis.

Glauben gave up 6 hits, issued 1 walk, and struck out 6 in 7 innings of work.

In a tight fast moving game, the Strykers would take the lead to make it 2-1 in the 8th.

That would be all the Strykers would need, as they came out on top 2-1. Alec Sanchez would be credited with the loss giving up 1 run on 1 hit, in 1 inning of work.

The Cane Cutters fall to 7-3 on the season, and will finish up their 2-game series with the Stykers tomorrow, June 10th at 7:05 PM.

They will return home Saturday June 13th against the Marshals for a 7:15 start. Saturday’s game will be military appreciation night. Current or former military personnel will receive up to 5 free tickets, thanks to Franks International, Ampol and Acadiana Dodge. Be sure to come on out to not only support your Cane Cutters, but to support those who have served this great country!
