Cane Cutters get an easy 11-0 win over Generals

07/12/2011 3:17 PM - "No runs. No hits. No errors.

That was the unfortunate line for the visiting Victoria Generals last night at Fabacher Field as pitchers Kaleb Manuel and Chris Cotton combined for a no-hitter to lead the Acadiana Cane Cutters to an easy 11-0 win in Texas Collegiate League action.

The game was the first of the season's second half. The Cutters had already qualified for postseason play, finishing second in the first half. The top two teams in each half will make the playoffs.

Manuel was the winning pitcher, going the first seven innings and allowing two walks while striking out three before being pulled because of a pitch count.

Cotton then finished off the no-hitter, pitching the final two innings and allowing no hits and no walks.

While the Generals couldn't get one hit, the home team collected 13 hits and hung an eight-spot in the bottom of the eighth to turn a close game into a blowout.

Taylor Dugas and Josh Burris each had two runs, two hits and two runs batted in to lead the attack. Burris also had a double, while Jordan Bourque added two doubles and two runs scored. Also getting two hits for Acadiana were Jeremy Hill (2-for-5, run, 2 RBIs) and Adam Seal (2-for-3, run, RBI)."
