CANE CUTTERS PICK UP BIG ROAD WIN

The Acadiana Cane Cutters defeated the Victoria Generals in Texas last night by a score of 7-1. It was game one of their two game road trip in Victoria.

 

The Cane Cutters took the early 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning when Chance Vincent (Alabama) hit and RBI single that scored Connor Barron (Southern Miss) who had reached on an error. The Cane Cutters’ offense would explode in the 5th as Chance Vincent drove in Connor Barron again with an RBI single and Austin Knight (Ole Miss) hit a huge 2 RBI double. Acadiana would continue to add runs in the 6th as Chance Vincent would single in James Ziegler (Chandler-Gilbert CC) and Connor Barron would score on an error. Acadiana would go up 7-0 after a Jalen Haskin (Pearl River JC) hit a sacrifice fly to score Hunter Wood (Western Kentucky). The Generals would score one in the 9th but it was not enough to overcome a huge offensive performance from Acadiana.

 

TCL All-Star Ryan May (LSU) was excellent on the mound for the Cane Cutters throwing 6 shutout innings while surrendering just 3 hits. He also picked up 2 strikeouts. May was relieved by fellow LSU pitcher Jesse Stallings (LSU) who would throw 3 innings while giving up a single run on 3 hits.

 

Chance Vincent had a big game at the plate going 3-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Connor Barron also had a huge game going 2-3 with 3 runs and 2 walks. He boosted his season average to .351.

 

Ryan May got the win for the Cane Cutters. Kris Looper got the loss for the Victoria Generals.  The Acadiana Cane Cutters are 14-9 in the 2nd half and 28-22 overall.

 

On August 4th from 5:30-6:30, Cane Cutters fans are invited to the manager’s reception at the Hampton. Eddy and players will be on hand to sign autographs. Tickets for the Hampton Inn and Suites “Take A Nine Inning Vacation” game the following night will be raffled off. The Hampton will provide complimentary food and drink to Cane Cutters fans in Cane Cutters attire. Come “Take a Nine Inning Vacation” on August 5th sponsored by Hampton Inn and Suites and win prizes for local attractions including the Hampton, Kart Ranch, Evangeline Downs, and a grand prize of a four night stay in Destin Fla. Pirates and Princesses Night sponsored by Play and Learn, Fan Appreciation Day, and C&G Boats Shirts off Your Back Night will all be on August 6th.
