PITCHING CARRIES CANE CUTTERS

07/24/2014 10:17 PM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters picked up a huge 2-0 road win tonight against the league leading Brazos Valley Bombers.

The Cane Cutters struck fast as Taylor Walker (Jackson State CC) drove in Cameron Dishon (Ole Miss), who had doubled, in the 1st inning. Pitching for both sides was excellent as they exchanged zeros on the scoreboard until the 7thinning when Acadiana took a 2-0 lead on a Daniel Cucjen (Alabama) double. The Cane Cutter bullpen was lock down and kept the score at 2-0 for the rest of the game. While pitching was the story of the game, the Cane Cutter offense still managed to collect 9 hits.

TCL All-Star Ryan May (LSU) was impressive on the mound for Acadiana as he threw 6 scoreless innings allowing just 3 hits. He was able to collect 2 strikeouts. Fellow LSU pitcher Jesse Stallings (LSU) came in to throw the 7th inning and ended up throwing 2.2 shutout innings. He allowed just 2 hits while picking up 3 strikeouts. All-Star closer Scott Ashford (Ole Miss) was called on to get the final out of the game.

Taylor Walker led the Cane Cutter offense by going 2-4 with an RBI. Right fielder James Ziegler (Chandler-Gilbert CC) also collected 2 hits.

Ryan May got the win for the Cane Cutters while Scott Ashford picked up the save. Mike Walker got the loss for the Brazos Valley Bombers. The Acadiana Cane Cutters are 9-7 in the 2nd half and 23-20 overall.
