The Cane Cutters have started the second half of the season 4-4 after going 2-2 in their weekend series against the Brazos Valley Bombers and the Victoria Generals, who are currently the top 2 teams in the TCL. The Cane Cutters took game 1 of the at home series with a score of 6-5 in a back and forth offensive battle between the Brazos Valley Bombers.  The Bombers took game two of the series with a score of 6-2.  The Cane Cutters took game one at the Victoria Generals on Saturday by a score of 5-2 after an offensive explosion being down 2-0 until the 7th inning.  The next night, the Generals defeated the Generals in their own offensive attack by a score of 7-1.

The Powerade Player of the Week, an award given to Acadiana’s top player of the week, was once again awarded to Connor Barron from Southern Mississippi for the second consecutive week, and the third time this season.  Barron was also the first Cane Cutter to be named Dinger Bats TCL Player of the Week this season with his outstanding offensive performance last week.   Over the last four games, Barron went 6-14 with a .429 batting average. Barron recorded his 2nd home run of the season in Acadiana’s 6-2 loss against the Brazos Valley Bombers.  After the weekend series, Barron had 4 RBIs, 2 runs, 2 walks and 1 stolen base. Barron leads the team with 29 runs, 42 hits, 8 doubles, and 21 stolen bases.  It’s been an outstanding two weeks for Barron after being named Powerade Player of the Week twice, TCL Player of the Week, and being named to the 2014 TCL All-Star team
.
The Powerade Pitcher of the week was awarded to Cody Coll, from Western Kentucky.  Coll pitched 7 innings in the 5-2 victory over the Victoria Generals.  Through 7 innings, Coll gave up 2 runs and 8 hits, but managed to pull the team out of tough situations and strikeout 2 batters.  He recorded a 1.29 ERA and .296 opponents batting average.  On the season, Coll has pitched 39.2 innings, allowing 39 hits, 23 runs and recorded 2 wins for the Cane Cutters.  Coll has also struck out 26 batters on the year.
