CANE CUTTERS FALL ON THE ROAD

07/13/2014 9:41 PM -

The Victoria Generals, behind an offensive onslaught, downed the Acadiana Cane Cutters this evening by a score of 7-1 to split the two-game series.

The scoring outburst began in the 3rd inning as Victoria plated five runs, two of which came on a Bryce Only single.

Victoria would add another run in the 5th inning. Acadiana’s lone run would come in the top of the 6th inning when Kennon Menard (Southeastern Louisiana) scored on a Chance Vincent (University of Alabama) fielder’s choice.

Though the Cane Cutters struggled to score, James Ziegler (Chandler Gilbert Community College) had a good evening at the plate, hitting safely for three singles in his four plate appearances.

The game’s scoring would draw to an end in the bottom of the 7th inning with Victoria adding another run of insurance to push the score to 7-1.

Jake Brumfield (Pearl River Community College) got the start for Acadiana and picked up the loss in tonight’s contest, allowing six runs in five innings pitched. The Cane Cutters would then call on Hayden Guidry (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) to pitch two innings in relief and he allowed one run. Evan Hebert (University of Arizona) pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th inning for Acadiana.
