CANE CUTTERS DROP SERIES FINALE TO GENERALS

 The Acadiana Cane Cutters lost the final game of the series with the Victoria Generals 6-3.

 

The game was a tale of two haves as the first half of the game was a pitcher’s dual while the second half was an offensive showdown. The Cane Cutters got on the board first in the 2nd inning when Alex Tucker (Nicholls State) hit a double that scored Jalen Haskin (Pearl River JC). They would take the 2-0 lead when Alex Tucker hit an RBI single in the 4th. The teams exchanged runs in the 6th making the score 3-1. The Generals offense took off after that scoring 2 in the 7th inning and 2 in the 8th inning. They put up 1 more in the 9th and the game ended with the Generals winning 6-3.

 

Jake Brumfield (Pearl River JC) started on the mound for the Cane Cutters going 6 innings while giving up just 1 run and 5 hits. He was impressive all night and struck out 6 General batters. Hayden Guidry (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) made his first appearance of the season throwing 1 inning while giving up 2 runs and 2 hits. Loreauville native Evan Hebert (University of Arizona) also made his first appearance and threw one scoreless inning with 3 strikeouts.

 

Leadoff hitter Connor Barron (Southern Miss) continued to swing the bat well going 3-5 after collecting 4 hits in 5 at-bats last night. Starting catcher Alex Tucker also had a solid game going 2-4 with double and 2 RBIs.  

 

Pedro Barrios was 3-4 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI for the Generals.

 

Ryan May got the loss for the Cane Cutters. Stuart Springer got the win for the Generals and Kris Looper got the save.

 

The Acadiana Cane Cutters are now 14-7 and are tied for second place.
