CANE CUTTERS CONTINUE WINNING STREAK

 The Acadiana Cane Cutters extended their winning streak to 4 games after beating the East Texas Pump Jacks 5-0 in the first game of their two game series on the road.

 

Acadiana got on the board first putting up 3 runs in the 3rd inning after a 2 RBI single from the newest Cane Cutter Chance Vincent (Alabama). They added one in the 6th and another in the 7th to increase the lead to 5-0. The Cane Cutters bullpen would hold the Pump Jacks scoreless for the rest of the game.

 

The star of the night was Cane Cutters’ starting pitcher Jake Winston (Southern Miss) who threw 7 innings of shutout baseball. He was impressive all night giving up just 2 hits and striking out 9 Pump Jack batters. Winston was making his 3rd start of the year and is now 1-1 with a 4.86 ERA. He was relieved by Cole Butler (Ranger JC) who picked up a strikeout in his one perfect inning of work. Jake Hubbard (Alabama) closed out the game for Acadiana by not allowing any base runners in his first appearance of the season.

 

While the Cane Cutters put up 5 runs, they had just four hits all night. Chance Vincent (Alabama) had a huge single and 2 RBIs in his third game of the year with Acadiana. Taylor Walker (Jackson State CC), Justin Holt (Nicholls St), and Trey Hicks (Texas St) had the other 3 hits for the Cane Cutters. Walker also added a run and an RBI.

 

Chris Osborne and Connor Hornsby had the only 2 hits of the game for the Pump Jacks.

 

Jake Winston got the win for the Acadiana Cane Cutters they are now 9-4. Jordan Gonzalez got the loss for the Pump Jacks. The East Texas Pump Jacks are now 4-9.
