06/11/2014 1:48 PM -

Hundreds of dreams came true last week when players from across the United States were drafted by Major League Baseball teams. Two former Cane Cutters, Braxton Lee and Taylor Nunez, were two of those players that showed enough skill and potential to get the call.

Braxton Lee, an outfielder from Ole Miss, played for the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the summer of 2012. He was taken in the 12th round with pick number 367 by the Tampa Bay Rays in this years MLB draft. During his time with Acadiana, Lee hit .259 (43-166) with 31 runs scored and 18 RBIs. He also had 5 doubles, a triple, and an impressive 24 stolen bases. With Ole Miss this year, Lee hit .290 with 55 runs, 24 RBIs, and led the team with 30 stolen bases. He is now headed to Omaha to play in the College World Series.

With pick number 824 in the 27th round, the Boston Red Sox selected former Cane Cutters pitcher Taylor Nunez. Nunez is from Southern Miss and was a Cane Cutter for the summer of 2013. He appeared in 3 games for Acadiana throwing 7 innings. He was 1-0 with a save, 10 strikeouts, and a 5.14 ERA. Nunez appeared in 6 games with Southern Miss going 0-2 with a 8.79 ERA and 13 strikeouts.

Both players are juniors and do have the right to go back to school and finish their degree.
