CANE CUTTERS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT

The Acadiana Cane Cutters rallied from behind for their fourth straight victory, defeating the East Texas Pump Jacks by a score of 6-4.

 

The action started early with the Cane Cutters jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Pump Jacks added a run in the 3rd to tie the ballgame, and jumped out to a 4-1 lead when they scored three runs in the top of the 4th inning. The Cane Cutters then fought from behind, scoring twice in the 5th and 6th innings to take a 5-4 advantage. Acadiana added one more in the 7th inning and held on to win by a score of 6-4.

 

The Cane Cutters had 13 hits in the ballgame, with each batter in the order contributing to the hits column. The offensive explosion was lead by catcher Hunter Wood (Western Kentucky) who went 3-4. Trey Hicks (Texas State University) was 2-3 with a triple and an RBI and Trent Giambrone (Jones County Community College) also had an RBI on a 2-3 night.

 

Cody Coll (Western Kentucky) was the starting pitcher, picking up a win in 6 innings of work. Alec Sanchez (Texas State University) recorded the save after pitching 3 innings of scoreless ball.

 

The Cane Cutters improve to a 5-3 record and will take on the Woodlands Strykers Saturday night for the annual Camp Bow Wow sponsored Dog Days of Summer event.
