CANE CUTTERS BEAT UNDEFEATED BOMBERS ON THE ROAD 8-1

06/04/2014 10:02 PM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters beat the Brazos Valley Bombers 8-1 in the second game of their road series to earn the split.  Nick Johnson (Southern Miss) started on the mound for Acadiana going 5 innings and giving up just 1 run.  He was able to pitch to contact and keep the Bombers hitters off balance with his off speed pitches.  He was relieved by Ryan May (LSU) who closed out the game with 4 perfect innings and 2 strikeouts.

Connor Barron (Southern Miss) and James Ziegler (Chandler-Gilbert CC) led the Cane Cutters on offense, each collecting 2 hits.  Nick Johnson earned the win tonight for the Cane Cutters and they are now 2-3.  Zach Girrens got the loss for the Bombers, and they are now 5-1.

The Cane Cutters return home on Thursday for a double header against the East Texas Pump Jacks.  It is Thirsty Thursday and those prices will apply for both games.  Friday night will be Star Wars night benefitting the Children’s Museum, and the All Acadiana High School softball and Baseball teams will be honored before the game. C&G Boats Fireworks will wrap up the evening.  Saturday will be Dog Day at the Park, and fans are welcome to bring their dog to the park.  The proceeds from the $3 pooch pass will benefit Lafayette Animal Aid, and lots of activities for dogs to participate in, courtesy of Camp Bow Wow.
