CANE CUTTERS SET TO OPEN FOURTH SESON

05/23/2014 7:36 AM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters of the Texas Collegiate League, who open their fourth season on May 29, have announced their promotional schedule today.

The marquee promotion will once again be “Fireworks Fridays” with all Friday night games scheduled to have a spectacular fireworks show courtesy of C&G Boats. Thursday’s will once again be “Thirsty Thursdays” with 10 oz. canned beers available for $1.00. Fans should plan to arrive early on Sundays, with the return of “Slippery Sunday” where the younger fans can utilize the water slide for free from 6 to 7.

“We had a lot of success with those promotions in the past,” Cane Cutters GM Bill Levy said. “It is only natural that we bring them back.”

Also back is the “Coke Fantasy Experience” where fans have the chance to participate in activities such as taking batting practice, throwing a first pitch, and other activities on Wednesdays this year.”

“Coke has been a tremendous partner of ours,” Levy said. “We are extremely grateful for their support.”

Military Night, another popular returnee, sponsored by AMPOL, Frank’s International and Acadiana Dodge is slated for June 14.  Lucky fans will have the chance to “Dig for a Diamond” thanks to Paul’s Jewelry on June 21.

Dog Day of summer, where fans can bring a dog to the game, will have more of an emphasis this year, with “Pooch Pass” proceeds going to the Lafayette Animal Aid, and our sponsor, Camp Bow Wow, planning many activities for dog and owner participation.

New theme nights include: “Star Wars Night” on June 6, where fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character and see characters in costume from the 501st Legion, a bike night on July 26, and a Lyle Mouton Bobble head doll giveaway on July 18.

“Honestly, our goal is to make this product as much of a community event, as a baseball game,” Levy said. “We are the entire community’s team. If we can put on a show, in conjunction with the game, that will make the experience that much better for everyone. That is our goal.”

The Cane Cutters will open their fourth season on Thursday, May 29th when they host the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field in what will be the first part of an “Opening Weekend.” The home opening game is scheduled to include a rendition of the National Anthem sung by “Mrs. Acadiana,” Heather Hebert and the Cane Cutters first “Thirsty Thursday” of the year. The next day, May 30, will feature a C&G Boats “Fireworks Friday” postgame show.  Last year, the bombers went 49-15 in capturing the mythical National Championship and #1 ranking in all of summer collegiate baseball by Perfect Game. The Cane Cutters and Bombers are part of the six-team Texas Collegiate League that features some of the Nation’s top college prospects. Season tickets are now available. Call (337) 451-6582.
