CANE CUTTERS SIGN THREE CRIMSON TIDE PLAYERS

02/25/2014 9:35 PM -

The Acadiana Cane Cutters are pleased to announce that three players from the University of Alabama have committed to play for the team this summer. The class is headlined by former Acadiana High School star Chance Vincent, who will be returning to the Cane Cutters. Pitcher Jonathon Hess and outfielder Matthew Goodson have also agreed to play for Acadiana.

“This is a huge day for our organization,” Cane Cutters Bill Levy said. “Anytime you can get three players from a program like Alabama is reason to celebrate. Our relationship with Alabama is a direct reflection of our fan base, coaches, and ownership.”

Vincent, a sophomore, hit .289 with 20 RBI’s for the Cane Cutters in 2013. He has already made an impact for the Crimson Tide (4-2) this year as his two run double in the bottom of the seventh inning plated the eventual game-winning run and propelled Alabama to a 9-3 win over St. Louis on February 16. He has appeared in four games so far this year, starting three.  Last year he played in over 30 games for the Crimson Tide as a freshman.

“We are ecstatic to have Chance back with us,” said Head Coach Lonny Landry. “He is certainly someone our fans can embrace. Not only is he one of our returning players, but he also grew up in this community. He had a big year for us last year and we are anticipating him having another great season this summer.”

Goodson, a redshirt, freshman outfielder from Oxford, AL has appeared in two games for the Crimson Tide to date.  Hess is a redshirt, right-handed pitcher from Kenner, LA.

The Cane Cutters will open their fourth season on Thursday, May 29th when they host the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field in what will be the first part of an “Opening Weekend.” The Cane Cutters are part of the six-team Texas Collegiate League that features some of the Nation’s top college prospects.
