Cutters Shut Down Marshals Late but Cannot Overcome Deficit

06/27/2013 11:02 AM -

The Texas Marshals visited Acadiana Thursday night for game one of a two game series with the Cutters at Fabacher.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters welcomed the Texas Marshals to Fabacher Field on Thursday night for another matchup with the talented squad from McKinney. Texas stormed out of the gates early and never looked back, as Acadiana had a tough time finding a groove. The Cutters would fall by a score of 8-1.

The Cane Cutters struggled to scratch runs across the plate tonight, scoring just 1 run on 3 hits and 4 walks while the Marshals exploded for 7 runs in the first 4 innings. A 3-run home run by Marshals’ first baseman Ryan Lombardi would prove to be a big blow to the Cane Cutters’ chances of winning, making the score 6-0 in the 4th inning. The Cane Cutters scored their run in the 3rd inning after Nick Dawson singled, got to third on two wild pitches, and was driven in on an infield single by third baseman Brett Thornell. Following Kolby Green’s early departure, Freddy Prince came on in relief for the Cane Cutters, pitching 5 strong innings, giving up just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 3 Marshals’ batters. Nick Dawson, Kyle Cedotal, and Brett Thornell each had a hit tonight for the Cane Cutters. Though the Cane Cutters took the loss, the pitchers were backed up by a clean defensive slate, as Acadiana committed no errors throughout the game. The Cane Cutters will look to return the favor tomorrow night for the series conclusion.

Be at Fabacher Field when the gates open at 6:00 PM for your final chance to win participation in the Paul’s Jewelry Diamond Dash. Three additional Platinum Ticket passes will be handed out Friday night before the hunt for this exquisite 75 point, 14 karat gold fashioned, $2,300 dollar necklace begins on the field.
