Cane Cutters Drop First Series at Home

05/31/2013 9:45 PM -

Despite another impressive day at the plate from the Cane Cutters' bats, they can't get any across, and drop their second straight to the Brazos Valley Bombers 4-0.

Fabacher Field was buzzing both on and off the field tonight as the Cane Cutters welcomed the Brazos Valley Bombers in for the second of a two-game set. The post-game firework show, presented by C&G Boats, was definitely a sight to see, as the Fabacher faithful were treated to a nice spectacle in the pristine weather. The 10-minute fireworks show after the game left smiles and warm hearts in every fan in the stands despite the Cutters dropping their second straight at home.

In the second game of the two game series between the Brazos Valley Bombers and the Acadiana Cane Cutters, defense was the name of the game. Although the Cane Cutters were able to outhit the Bombers, Brazos Valley pulled out tonight’s contest in the stat column that mattered most. The Bombers took the 2013 season opening series, capping it off 4-0 on seven hits. Despite blanking the Cutters in the win column, the Acadiana offense swung the bat well for the second straight night. They just couldn’t scratch anything across. Brazos Valley starter Michael Walker put up a rather impressive effort by penning a complete game. He constantly worked his way out of jams and finished the contest with 6 punch outs.

This weekend brings on new a challenge for Acadiana as the Cane Cutters welcome the undefeated Victoria Generals to Lafayette, fresh off of a series sweep against the Woodlands Strykers. Come out tomorrow night for Knight Oil Tools’ Scout Night, where youth of all ages are invited to enjoy the Fun Jumps, rock wall, dunk tank, and more! Tomorrow’s game is also our first “Saturday in the Park” where fans of all ages will be treated to $1 off of all drinks from 6-7 PM. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Fabacher Field.
